Airpods Pro 2
Apple unveiled an updated version of the AirPods 2 with USB-C. The wireless earbuds are essentially the same as the 2022 version but offer slightly improved durability and the new port after Apple made the switch in the iPhone. But if you or someone you’re buying for aren’t ready to switch from Lightning to USB-C, you can save $60 on the original AirPods Pro 2 at Walmart — matching the lowest price we’ve seen on the noise-canceling earbuds in 2023.
“The sequel has next-level audio performance and noise cancelation, thanks to its new H2 chip, along with improved ergonomics and longer battery life,” Vazharov says in his review.
In fact, the noise cancelation is among the best, he says. That’s high praise considering the AirPods’ peers include the Beats Studio Buds+, , and Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II.
Buying the original AirPods Pro 2 means that same one Lightning cable can charge the earbuds and an iPhone 14 (or previous generation). It can be frustrating having to use multiple cable with different devices, but for anyone with an older iPhone, the AirPods Pro 2 with Lightning will pair perfectly.
Despite the AirPods Pro 2 with Lightning being over a year old, Apple recently introduced new software to reinvigorate the earbuds. They now support Conversation Awareness (lowering the volume and piping in more voices while tamping down background noise) and Personalized Volume, which can automatically fine-tune the listening experience based on the user’s habits. It’s a helpful new feature that means less fiddling around with settings.
It’s inevitable that the adoption of USB-C will continue, so you likely won’t be able to find the AirPods Pro 2 with a Lightning case for much longer. If you’re planning on gifting these to someone who’s not ready to give up Lightning just yet, take advantage of this deal while you can.
